The Google Blogger team is always looking for ways to improve methods to battle sploggers but their systems don’t always work as planned. One of my blogs was recently flagged as a splog by the Google Blogger team and I was sent this automated email from them.
Dear Blogger user,
This is a message from the Blogger team.
Your blog, at https://welovetemplates.blogspot.com/, has been identified as a potential spam blog. For an explanation of what spam blogs are, please see Blogger Help.
You will not be able to publish posts to your blog until we review your site and confirm that it is not a spam blog. To request a review, please fill out the form found here: link was here.
We will take a look at your blog and unlock it within four business days. Please note that if we do not hear from you within 20 days, we will remove your blog. If this blog does not belong to you, then you do not have to do anything. Any other blogs you may have will not be affected.
Since you are an actual person reading this, your blog is probably not spam. We find spam by using an automated classifier. Automatic spam detection is inherently fuzzy, and occasionally a blog is flagged incorrectly. We sincerely apologize for this erroneous result. By using this kind of system, however, we can dedicate more storage, bandwidth, and engineering resources to users like you instead of to spammers.
Thank you for your understanding and for your help in our spam-fighting efforts.
Sincerely,
The Blogger Team
It’s nice to see that they are doing their best to reduce the growing number of spam blogs out there. I can see why they think this blog is a splog (there’s no real content on it yet) so I’ll have to file a request to make sure they don’t delete it.
I’ve read a couple of forum posts about people with real blogs getting identified as spam which would really piss me off too. At least the Blogger Team seems to reverse the account freeze pretty quickly.
Has anyone else gotten one of these emails from Google? Was your blog legit or were you in the process of building it out? I’d love to hear a couple of stories.

Hi,
I started a blog through Blogger last night and got this ridiculous email about it being considered spam today. I didn’t even get a chance to write my first post yet. As far as I’m concerned, they can keep it. I’m taking my blogging elsewhere.
Hi,
I just got this message too for my aircraft review blog (which is in Finnish):
http://lentokone.blogspot.com
My blog is legit and fully written by myself.
As a consequence, I migrated all my blogs from blogger to WordPress.com. I am still trying to figure out what to do with them, but at least I have a backup now if the evil Google removes my texts I have spent so much of my spare time to write.
And yes, I am really pissed off to Google, the intent is good, but the implementation is bad.
I requested review for my blog yesterday, but it still is locked. Even one day downtime in this kind of service makes me look elsewhere. So far so good, my stuff is now in the wordpress.com, thanks to the bad service of Google/Blogger.
And, I already blogged about this to my new WordPress blog (see link above, in the website url).
Best Regards,
Karoliina Salminen
Two of ‘my’ blogs were recently classified as SPAM. The first, for a South African Celebrity at http://danieniehaus.blogspot.com/ and the second for Gustav Marais at http://taffygoodstuff.blogspot.com/. The first, perfectly legitimate (with original content) – not even a week old. The second – only a day old. Didn’t even have time to add content, yet!
Both these sites are blocked at this very moment. The first for almost a week – no matter the Unblock Request. The second for two days.
I have so much work to do. And I do setup these blogs for FREE at my expense. And I even teach the new Bloggers how to post, etc.
So here I am. I offer a perfectly legitimate, FREE, service. I spend time promoting Blogger. I even customize the templates. And what does Blogger’s Spam Bot do? Make me look like a total idiot!
Don’t get me wrong, I love Blogger – but this type of thing breaks one’s trust. What if they DELETE ALL MY WORK AFTER 21 DAYS. Of course I’m stressed. What prevents them from doing the same to other blogs I set up for people in the past?
I set up my blog yesterday and at 1am this morning Blogger detected my blog as a spam blog and blocked it.
I requested they unblock it three hours ago. I am still waiting.
It is very frustrating to invest so much time setting up your personal space online only to have it violated by the very people who provided it in the first place.
I don’t know how Blogger’s stupid *robots* could register my blog as spam when I already have three posts on it. Obviously their programmers are a bunch of imbeciles. If Blogger is outsourcing their IT to cheap labor from third-world countries they should stop.
Now I cannot even write anything on it. I wonder if the same thing will happen again. I am considering switching to WordPress.
Yes I got same message from blogger team. I really felt helpless that time. But later I understand that my blog post was spam and I edit my all blog post and update.
i got my blog lock too.i got notice said too many link in my post. now 20 day passed, they not delete my blog.but still lock.what happen?is it wrong we link each other in blog.
Yes today i got an email after 6 months joining the Blogger, that my blog is SBLOG. And they deleted my blog. I worked on it day and night. After 3 months i got Google PageRank 3, 230 Subscribers, 50,000+ PageViews per month. I requested them that please release my blog from spam list but till now i am waiting for there response. I don’t know that what to do now, JUST WAITING WAITING and WAITING.
I just got this message today for one of my new blogs while I was editing my template.
They even locked me out of my Adsense account, which really upset me. Fortunately, I was able to restore access to my Adsense account through an automated form.
If Google is taking four or five days to restore access to blogs erroneously flagged as spam, why not have a real human being look at a blog before disabling access to it?
