This beautiful Apple OS knock off new Blogger template is awesome. Not only does it look and feel just like you’re using a Mac, but it’s quite functional as well.  It includes the original really cool drag & drop sidebar feature which allows you to rearrange the order of your sidebar in a dynamic fun way (check out the demo and try it yourself). It also includes the FeedIt widget which shows real-time live traffic to your site.

This template also comes with a top AdSense link unit which is a great spot to make money with your blog. Make sure you have a Google AdSense account and then you’ll need to modify the template code and replace the AdSense code with your own.

So if you’ve got the iPhone, iTouch, iPod, iMac, and all the other amazing Apple products, this template has your name all over it. Now you can have your own iBlog template!

I love the silver and white modules with the icons and the tabs. Speaking of tabs, if you want to add some you’ll need to edit the “top tabs” page element within Blogger. It’s easy to do though since it’s a link list. That means you don’t need to go muck around in the template code to add/remove new tabs. A cool feature added by eBlog Templates.

The date box on each post is a bonus feature as well. If the date doesn’t show up when you first install it, you’ll have to make a small change in your Blogger settings. Go to “Settings” => “Formatting” => “Timestamp Format” and change it to this format: Saturday, February 09, 2008. That should make the date feature work.

Another additional widget included in this Apple iTheme template is the “recent posts” widget. You’ll need to plug in your rss feed to get it to work though. Just copy the entire rss feed url and paste it in the widget.

The original design was done by N.Design Studio and ported over to Blogger by BlackQuanta.

Update (3/3/08) – Blogger recently made a change to their xml parser which caused this template to break (no div tags in the head error message). It has since been fixed so please download it again if you don’t have a working version.

Hey… you are wrong about the original theme… this was done by Ndesign Studio (http://www.ndesign-studio.com/resources/wp-themes/)

Thanks Jon. Proper credit has been given.

Tupactimtim on Apr 29, 2008, 7:46 am

Ok how do i remove the google ads????
And why cant i change my header?????

PLEASE help 😐

David on Apr 30, 2008, 1:00 pm

@Tupactimtim, you can do both. Make sure you check the “Expand template widgets” checkbox which will show you all the code. There you’ll find the AdSense code which you can remove. I don’t believe this template supports header changes unless you modify the template code.

Tupactimtim on Apr 30, 2008, 1:23 pm

Ok thanks will give it another go

hello there, is there a 3 column of this template? Left | Main | right.

Michael on May 12, 2008, 1:40 pm

it wont upload it says this: Please correct the error below, and submit your template again.
Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: Content is not allowed in prolog.

i rlly love this design!

David on May 14, 2008, 8:14 am

@Michael- make sure you copy and paste the entire template code. Usually this message means you’ve left out or missed some code during the copy process.

Is it possible to install the template while publishing via FTP? I have my own website, my own server and space for storing all of the necessary files. Will the XML file work with my Blogger blog? If so, how do I install it?

Benjamin Cordes on May 17, 2008, 7:35 am

After a bit of research, I’m fairly certain that it’s impossible to publish via FTP and have an XML template such as this one. That said, would it be possible still to both use this template and somehow forward my Blogger blog to this address:

http://www.btastic.com/blog

I know that subdomain forwarding isn’t allowed by Blogger, but I’m curious as to whether or not there’s a code I can put on the blog.html page which will obtain the information on btastic.blogspot.com and have it show up at the aforementioned link.

I apologize if this is confusing; I’m new to Web 2.0 technologies as well as Blogger’s mechanics.

I click the download link but it takes me to the home page! 🙁

Harith on May 17, 2008, 10:23 pm

Thanks for the great template. I updated my blog with your template, but I facing these three problems:
1. I did format the date the way you recommended, however I am having difficulty displaying that. I get “Undefined” for the date.
2. Posted By element is not showing up.
3. Comments showing up at the wrong place. I updated the element location using Blogger’s ‘Page Element’ tab, but still no effect. I have a feeling that any change I do there is not really affecting the template.

Here is my blog for reference: http://hariths-space.blogspot.com/

Any idea where is my problem? Thanks.

David on May 18, 2008, 5:04 am

@Harith, You must have changed the wrong date dropdown under the options section. The “Undefined” message means it wasn’t the right one. It’s the 3rd or 4th option on that page (there are a couple date-related options on that page so make sure you get the right one.)

The posted by element might not be in the template code if it’s not showing up when you change the option. You’ll need to add or move this code (if it already exists in the wrong spot) within your template code. Make sure you back up the template before making any changes.
<b:if cond='data:top.showAuthor'>
<data:top.authorLabel/> <data:post.author/>
</b:if>

You’ll want to put that probably somewhere in after <span class='post-labels'> within the code.

Your comments appear to be showing up correctly to me. I’m using Firefox to check them.

Good luck!

David on May 18, 2008, 5:06 am

@Money Ideas, you must be trying to download it from a different site. Try going directly to the iTheme page and click the big blue “Download Now” button. If that still doesn’t work, send me an email via the contact us form and I’ll email it to you.

David on May 18, 2008, 5:30 am

@BTastic, you can only use this template with an xml Blogger account. Please visit http://www.blogger.com and read their start guide to get you started. Thanks.

Harith on May 18, 2008, 6:02 am

Thanks Dave for the help. Your note saying there is another drop down for date was the key! I was updating the wrong widget!
For the comments section, yes it is showing up but not at the right place. In the Page Element edit page I have it at the bottom left of the post, but it is still showing up at top right.

BTastic on May 18, 2008, 11:17 am

The sidebar is exactly one pixel higher than the main body of the theme. This is due to the file “itheme-sidep-handle.png” being only 50 pixels high.

Look here:

http://btastic.com/ithemepic.gif

I added an extra pixel to the top of the file (now 51 pixels high), and it fixed this issue. There was no need to alter any of the XML code. You can download the file directly from my site here:

http://btastic.com/ithemeimages/itheme-sidep-handle.png

Thanks for responding to my previous comment, and thanks for creating such a fantastic website! The themes are amazing!

Careful Shopper on May 22, 2008, 8:17 am

This template design is exactly what I was looking for! 😛

I really needed to have drop-down or collapsible menus without doing too many code alterations as I am not “gifted” in that area.

Thank you so much for providing this to us.

The only problem I am having is my “Categories” box.

For some reason, when it is opened, part of the white background is there, but is preceded by the blue of the template background image. Did I do something wrong?

This can be seen at http://smartseek.com

Thank you so much again for this template!
Vic

David on May 22, 2008, 11:16 pm

@Careful Shopper, I looked at your blog but I’m not quite sure what it could be. At first I thought your list was too long but you’ve got another one just as long and it’s fine. I then thought the background image might have just been exceeded in height which might be the case. You might need to increase the height (it’s currently set at 100% though so I’m not sure why it’s not working. Sorry I can’t help you any further…

I’m a little confused on how to add adsense ads to this template. 😥

Frank on Jun 8, 2008, 5:43 pm

Hi, David. I could use your expertise on my blog: http://thefrankspot.blogspot.com/

I’m just building this blog using the itheme template, but I’m having widget problems. Whenever a user collapses (or expands) one of the sidebar widgets and returns later or refreshes the page:

1. The wrong widget(s) is (are) collapsed or expanded.
2. My custom HTML widget is broken (the content is no longer embedded in the widget)

Rearranging the widgets doesn’t have any impact on the problem.

Clearing the dbx-main cookie that contains widget position and expand/collapse state solves the problem temporarily (and restores all widgets to initial state). And it seems that just the existence of the cookie breaks my “about frank” widget, regardless of the state of the rest of the widgets. This is a frustrating problem, to say the least.

Any thoughts?

On a secondary topic, is there any way to reposition the “Ads by Google” strip that appears under the menu bar and above the post title? I’d like to put it someplace else.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Frank on Jun 11, 2008, 4:57 pm

Update to my comment above:

I’ve kluged together a solution to my problem — I enclosed the content of my html widget within a set of span tags, instead of the div tags I had started with. Then, to make the content visible in IE, I had to nest a set of styled div tags inside the span. Not sure why this corrected the problem, but all’s well that ends well.

I have installed the iTheme template in one of my blogs. But the calender icon that is dsiplayed near the post title always says undefined, any idea why this is happening??

Katrina on Jul 28, 2008, 7:35 pm

Thank you David for a unique and awesome template. I only recently got into the blogging world and after many hours of searching for the right template to start off with, iTheme Template seemed the perfect way to go. There have been problems along the way but each bug has been worked out so far, except for the “posted by” element, which is still not showing up. In fact, it seems barely anything entered or ticked in the ‘Configure Blog Posts’, in the Layout Section, shows up properly or at all.

I’m sure that down the road my husband and I will put together our own look, but for beginners just starting out, going with a pre-made template like iTheme is definitely the way to go.

We’ve only just begun blogging but feel free to stop by and drop a line at http://www.essentialchatter.blogspot.com

Cheers! 🙂

if anyone is bothered by the 1pixel lowered body, goto to ‘Edit HTML’ on your blog template and search for this code –

/* main content area */
#main-col {
width: 545px;
float: left;
margin-top: 11px;

Decrease margin-top to 10px.

Doug C. on Aug 19, 2008, 5:07 pm

Awesome theme. I was wondering how to make the background static so when you scrolled the page the background would stay in place?

Doug C. on Aug 19, 2008, 6:20 pm

How do you modify the calendar image? Right now it just has a big “undefined” written across it.

rahul on Aug 19, 2008, 7:01 pm

@doug – i got same error.. did you try this??

The date box on each post is a bonus feature as well. If the date doesn’t show up when you first install it, you’ll have to make a small change in your Blogger settings. Go to “Settings” => “Formatting” => “Timestamp Format” and change it to this format: Saturday, February 09, 2008. That should make the date feature work.
