Dilectio Template

Click to enlarge Dilectio Blogger template

Here’s a nice three column modern artistic Blogger template with some nice bells and whistles. It has a cool search box and “About You” section with a red/orange background along with a custom date/time stamp for each post. This template is only the second one ever to include javascript tabs within the sidebar. That means instead of the page reloading each time you click on a tab, it dynamically clicks over! Check out the live demo to see it in action.

This free Blogger template is also setup for you to easily add Google AdSense and make money from your blog. If you don’t already have Google AdSense, you should read more about how to make money from Blogger and sign-up. The ad format and colors you should use to best match this template are illustrated below. The 300 x 250 rectangle with #fff3e2 for the border and background, #cc0000 for the text, and #856d65 for the title and url. This will make your ad block blend in nicely with the light pink second column.

ad-sense-config.jpg

You’ll also need to setup the header tabs before they appear. Just edit the “top tabs” widget and create the tabs you want. The “Home” tab automatically appears once you create your first tab.

To setup the recent posts and comments cool dynamic tab section you’ll need to paste in your rss feeds. Read this article on setting up your Blogger recent comments and posts section.

The rest of the configuration is pretty straight forward. If your individual blog post date stamp doesn’t show up, you’ll need to make one more change. Go into your Blogger’s “Settings” tab and then click on “Formatting”. Next, change the “Timestamp Format” (it’s the 4th one down) to this format => “Wednesday, February, 2008”. Make sure you change the “Timestamp Format” and NOT the “Date Header Format”. Many people in the past have told me it didn’t work only to find out they were changing the wrong field.

This template was originally designed by Design Disease for WordPress and was converted into Blogger by Blog and Web. eBlog Templates decided to take it one step further and enhance it to include the dynamic header tabs and javascript recent posts and comments tab section.

Hola riaz776,

I was wondering how did you set-up Dilectio’s template? It was suppose to be a straight forward procedure. Here’s how you do it;

1. Download Dilectio’s template and save somewhere you can easily find

2. In Edit HTML mode, click ‘Browse’ and find the template you’ve downloaded earlier

3. Click ‘Upload’

4. In your case there will be several ‘Widgets are about to be deleted’ – confirm and save.

5. Voila! You have got Dilectio as your blog’s template.

I hope that help.

Greetings and lots of love from Malaysia.

Hey, I like your template, I have a small problem with it though: when I try to configure the “Recent Posts or Recent Comments” I get a blank “Configure Feed” window with no option for the feed URL in it. Can you please tell me what to do to fix this. Thanx, Alex

Hi!

I just downloaded the Dilectio template for my new blog; however, I can’t seem to get the date to show up on my posts. I did play with the date header format under settings/formatting. Is there a way to fix it? Should I re-upload the template?

Thanks!

ArahMan7 on Jun 25, 2009, 9:43 am

Hola Kate,

Here’s what David (eBlog Templates Founder) wrote up above,

Go into your Blogger’s “Settings” tab and then click on “Formatting”. Next, change the “Timestamp Format” (it’s the 4th one down) to this format => “Wednesday, February, 2008?. Make sure you change the “Timestamp Format” and NOT the “Date Header Format”. Many people in the past have told me it didn’t work only to find out they were changing the wrong field.

Read it carefully and I’m sure you’ll get it right in no time.

Greetings and lots of love from Malaysia.

Hello,Arah!
I found another problem when I tried to add the codes for ‘read more’ gadget into this template.
Basically I use 2 methods:
1. The new JS one: http://www.bloggerbuster.com/2009/06/blogger-read-morepost-summaries-best.html
My problem is that when I added it, the font and graph become smaller and I have no clue how to change it.
2. The older one:
http://trick-blog.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-create-read-more.html
After adding it, the post section becomes blank.

I don’t know whether it’s due to my specific template which adds some other gadgets, thus leading to this.

Anyway, thanks for your attention!

Best,
CC

@ArahMan7

Hello! I love the Dilectio theme and have been playing with is on a WordPress 2.8.2 install. I too, like many of the folks here am having problems with getting comments to display underneath posts.

Part of the comment is displayed in the Recent Comments tab (in the SRL sidebar), but if you click the link, it only takes you to the post page for which the comment was left–but it does not display the comment underneath the post.

I’ve read through many of the posts here and am still a bit confused (relatively new to WordPress but comfortable working with PHP & CSS).

Any help would be appreciated.

Warmest regards.

Efrem on Jul 31, 2009, 9:47 pm

I apologize–I posted the wrong URL on my question. It is pointing to the correct directory where our blog is housed now.

Efrem on Jul 31, 2009, 10:16 pm

Please remove my last two posts–I figured out why the comments weren’t showing up in the blog I’m working on. I had another plugin that was prohibiting them from being seen by anybody who wasn’t logged in to the site. Sorry for the waste of space!

ArahMan7 on Jul 31, 2009, 11:42 pm

Hola Efrem,

I see that you’re using Dilectio for WordPress. I’m sorry I’m not familiar with Dilectio for WordPress. All the questions above were for Blog*Spot.

I’m sure someone else (who is familiar with WordPress) will answer your question.

See you around.

Greetings and lots of love from Malaysia.

Hi, I love this template!
But the “reactions” which is a default option under Page Elements is not being shown… any ideas how to fix it?

Tx

ArahMan7 on Aug 1, 2009, 8:51 pm

Hola Nate,

It’s good to see you here.

Ok, in Page Elements mode click on ‘edit’ Blog Post. A box will appear. Inside the box there are several Main Page Options. Click in the box beside Reactions and I’m sure you will get your Reactions listed.

Hope that will answer your question.

Greetings and lots of love from Malaysia.

Sincerely yours,
~ ArahMan7

Hola Nate,

I’m sorry I cannot be of help if it didn’t appear. I guess there’s something wrong with Blogger or something coz you’ve made the right move. Have you tried it in Blogger in Draft? Give it another shot in Blogger in Draft. Other than that, I’m sorry I can’t be of help.

Greetings and lots of love from Malaysia.

arahman7.. i am from malaysia too.
i like this templete.
after i download the template, i still cannot upload it..
nape ek.. whats the problem..

can u give me the tips or the HTML code for this template..

ArahMan7 on Aug 9, 2009, 5:59 am

Hola Aida,

I’m glad you like Dilectio template, but did you upload it correctly?

Anyway, here’s how;

1. Download Dilectio template and save it somewhere you can easily remember. As for me, I created a special folder just for templates in My Document.

2. Sign-in to your Blogger’s account –> Dashboard –> Layout –> Edit HTML

3. In Edit HTML mode, Browse to where you kept Dilectio and click upload.

4. That’s about all there is to it. Oh yeah, before you do anything, make sure you do a backup of your present template. If there’s any hissing sound or an explosion, you can thank me for reminding you to do so, lol!

See you around, Malaysian girl.

Greetings and lots of love from Kuale Kangsor.

Hi,
You said above, “In your case there will be several ‘Widgets are about to be deleted’ – confirm and save.” What happens to the widgets then? Will I lose the widgets (followers, ad sense, blog roll) or will they magically reappear?

Thanks,
Christy

ArahMan7 on Sep 5, 2009, 6:55 am

Hola Christy,

Like it said, when ‘Widgets are about to be deleted’ it means after you confirm and save all widgets listed will be deleted, lost, vanished, disappeared. In other word, those widgets will not reappear ever again.

You will lose all widgets that was listed only (before you save and confirm).

Hope that help.

Greetings and lots of love from Malaysia.

Sincerely yours,
~ ArahMan7
